Betty Davis, The Bear, Charlie Kaufman & Gilligan's Island

Happy Friday.

Blockbusters keep rolling out into the theaters. I should probably venture out and see Top Gun: Maverick (or one of the other hugely cinematic movies making the rounds), but I'm just too busy catching up on all of the great movies on the streamers.

Speaking of movies and TV shows to watch, there are so many great things I can recommend right now. How about we jump right in?

Reel Dynamite
The hour-long documentary Betty: They Say I'm Different is a great watch. Betty Davis was a unique voice in funk music, and her influence on husband Miles Davis is undeniable. An interesting movie about a fascinating person, this is one worth seeking out. Read The Full Review

This Is Awesome
Okay, so apparently, Charlie Kaufman and James Gunn have been trying to do a Dark Re-boot of Gilligan's Island. Where they resort to cannabilism. That is so insane that it just might work. Usually, I would call this a hoax, but there are so many stories about it that there has to be at least a little truth to it. A man can dream!

Televizzle
The hype for FX's new show, The Bear, has been tremendous. But you know what? It is totally worth it. This fiercely dark comedy is one of the year's best new shows. It has already been renewed for a second season. Without giving away any spoilers, I will just say that episode 7 is one of the most remarkable things I've seen on TV in quite some time.

Enjoy the weekend, and we'll see you next week.
